Position Profile

This position will be the point person for all HR functions for two US properties (Melia Orlando and ME Miami). Ensuring the efficient administration and management of processes including: recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements and the execution of the employee relations activities. Utilizes a Human Resources Plan aligned with property and brand strategies to deliver HR services that enable business success.

 

Essential Functions: (not inclusive of all of the responsibilities)

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day HR Department operation. 
  • Communicate all applicable HR processes to managers and hotel staff relating to, but not limited to labor,  contract compliance, disciplinary procedures, recruitment, orientation, staff relations, benefits, performance reviews, employment verifications and other HR related processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal statues and help minimize company liability. 
  • Counsels and/or disciplines associates as needed, through clear, calm and direct oral and written communications, in accordance with the guidelines established by the hotels.
  • Oversee the payroll related functions: data entry, separations, reporting.
  • Actively supervises all workers compensation procedures and advises the leaders on compliant procedures.  
  • Prepare reports as required by corporate.
  • Implement processes and projects related to Human Resources in coordination with Regional HR. 
  • Lead talent acquisition and retention functions: succession/ workforce planning, performance management and development for employees.
  • Utilizes a Human Resources Plan aligned with property and brand strategies to deliver HR services that enable business success.
  • Driver of Melia Hotels Internationals' company culture.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to type to prepare correspondence and meet deadlines.
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to deliver training presentations in a concise, well-organized manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advance level of English required for both written and verbal communication-Spanish language preferred. 
  • Knowledge with Federal and State employee benefit laws involving employee benefits (such as COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, DCFLA, etc)Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and influence effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Must be a self-directed individual with initiative, analytical and problem solving skill
  •  Ability to act quickly and efficiently with high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • High customer service orientation
  • Ability to partner with all levels of managers, providing a consultative approach and employee relations
  • Track record of managing budgets, staff costs and forecast
  • Full cycle recruiting experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state, federal and local employment laws and regulations is required

Education:

  • College level degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • HR certification strongly required

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a high volumne hospitality environment.
  • Experience must include a service based industry, preferably hospitality.
