Essential Duties:

  • Support general resort and housekeeping/ maintenance operations by answering all incoming calls for Housekeeping services, relay information to the appropriate team member(s) or department and follow up on completion of expectations to ensure prompt and efficient guest satisfaction.
  • Answer phone calls within Melia Standard, respond to requests in a professional manner as stipulated in the Company/Hotel telephone etiquette procedure.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the housekeeping department. Acts as direct liaison between resort guests and the housekeeping staff.
  • Handle guest issues to resolution in effort to improve the guest experience and escalate any outstanding guest inquiry or concerns to management that may require additional monitoring or follow-up.
  • Manage early arrivals, special requests, VIP’s, room moves, queue reservations and early departures by continuously providing updates for Housekeeping Inspectors and Supervisors.
  • Issue and receive master keys, radios and cleaning assignments as directed by Management.
  • Monitor occupancy status of guest rooms on constant basis and ensure vacant/inspected rooms are available to the Front Desk through coordination with the Floor Supervisor Team.
  • Keep record of Room Attendant and Housemen productivity.
  • Collect and file all checklists, boards and assignments in the designated location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 6 months of housekeeping or guest service experience.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (verbal and written) with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when multi-tasking and providing service to multiple guests and/or clients within any given period of time.

Desirable:

  • Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish.
  • High school graduate, some college or degree.
  • OPERA (software) and HOTSOS experience a plus.
